I have for some time been trying to trace any information about Mary Star. My father was a signalman in the Navy (North Atlantic convoys) and often spoke of Mary Star. She sent us food parcels during the WW2 years when we were but children. I once saw an advertisement in a national newspaper advising that Mary Star was giving a reception at the American Embassy, post war of course, which my father, Robert Jordan (he was a signaller) attended. I have contacted the US Embassy who appeared to have no knowledge of her (!) and wonder if there are any 'old sailors' out there who can give me any more information.
Many thanks.
Sheila Lee (daughter of Robert Jordan, who Mary knew as Bobby Jordan.

Artificer Apprentices re-union
In September 1960 some 200 of us bemused, bedraggled and star-spangled sprogs joined HMS Fisgard to commence a five year apprenticeship. Last month I received an invitation to a 50th anniversary re-union to be held in Portsmouth on the 11th September.

By general osmosis, I understand some 60 of us will be attending but I would like to trackdown some additional people we would like to invite but have no address or telephone number. Can anyone help please

Landing Craft - LCT, LST, LCVP
I’m from Belgium, living in France and working in the UK.
I have an extreme interest in a restoration project for any type of landing craft.
I’ve heard that there is the last LST left in the UK and maybe also one LCT.
Would your organization have any members who might know of such landing craft?
Thanks for your collaboration.

Re HMHS Euripedes or Euripides.

I have a facsimile of the Medal Card of my relative E.L.D.(Daisy) Dodd, a nursing sister of the QAIMNSR, showing that she received the 1915 Medal for service on "HMHS Euripedes" and in No. 36 General Hospital at Salonika. Apart from the spelling (medal clerks may not have been students of Greek - nor am I) I have been told that the Euripides was an Aussie troopship, but was never a hospital ship. So why did her medal card say it was?

Can anyone please shed light on this ship, however spelled?

Thank you.

The Chief Engineer of HMRT Englishman was my late uncle, Urwin H Dodd, MC. The tug was lost to enemy aircraft, but there is a discrepancy about the date.
Your 'tugslost' page gives the date as 1940-01-21 (to use the international all-numeric date). A memorial plaque erected in Campbelltown, Argyllshire, by his son, my cousin, says 1941-01-22. I have a picture of the plaque.
A day's difference is neither here nor there, but a year seems a bit much.
Can anyone please say which is correct, or how I could confirm the date?
Thank you

My Father, George Taylor, served on HMS Farndale as an AB during WW11.My Dad only told stories about his time in the Royal Navy with humour. But I know he went through it while serving now I have researched his ship. Sadly, Dad has passed on but I would be grateful to anyone who remembers or has any information about HMS Farndale or even better if they knew my Dad, please contact me on the email address.
