| My father, Keith Pether, passed away on 8th November 2007, aged 66 and I would just like to thank members of the RNA for their kindness when I made contact with the headquarters. My dad was a navy man through & through and would have been so proud that the RNA took the time to write such a lovely letter to my mum offering support & condolences in her time of grief, I know this was of great comfort to her. Thank you, I am so proud of our forces. If anybody knew my dad & would like to get in touch, I would be happy to hear from you. | |

| Iam an ex RN man. Served on Ausonia, Verulam, Albion, Ganges, and a few other places. I was an LEM and left the service in March 1971.
I am now a writer and have recently published a fictional novel called Deathly Cold. It's about the navy and needless to say is a yarn worth commending to you. Plenty of intrigue, blood and good old fashioned guts. If any one wishes to buy a copy all you need to do is get hold of a computer with an internet connection and write in Deathly Cold in your search engine or simply A G D Hayes. I guarantee it will be worth it and I hope you won't be disappointed. Anybody who remembers "Gabby" send me an E on gabby@hayes205.wanadoo.co.uk
I'll be delighted to hear from you.
Happy surfing. Gabbs

| Hello
I left the service in 1993 after my 22 and now I'm nearly 55 and unhappy with my working life, I'm considering early retirement and I have lots of hobbies, one of which is writing fiction.
I realise I will not be well off, but money is not everything and I'm prepared for a modest lifestyle.
Can anyone offer advice, has anyone else done this kind of thing, do I just give up my day job and start to live on my pension or do I need to inform the establishment in some way?
Any comments gratefully accepted, many thanks.

If anyone has any info. about the Holly or who sailed on her or knew my dad please let me know.I believe the Holly was sold to the Dutch Navy about 1943. | |
