I served in the WRNS throughly enjoyed myself, loved going on parade, very proud to wear my uniform. Please where can I find out how to get involved with the WRNS. I am now disabled and in a wheelchair, but I refuse to let my disabilities get in my way of leading a normal life as possible. Thank you

My dad, Robert Lyle did his national service on HMS Matapan during the late 1940s. He was sent to join the ship in Glasgow and remembers that the ship had just been refitted. He also said the ship spent most of it's time under canvas. Do you know of anyone who was aboard at this time?

I am tring to track down my husband's uncle Commander Lawrence Lamb as I am researching the family tree.

He was married to a lady called Evelyn Bonser in Singapore in the 50s (I think) and this is what is making official documents difficult to track down.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards to all.

Sue

My father Kenneth John Pharoah died a couple of weeks ago. He served in the RN from the forties to the late sixties. In his posessions we have found a short typed account of the Battle of Matapan & the Second Battle of Narvik, wriiten by his father CPO George Pharoah who served on HMS Warspite. I am trying to find out my grandfathers station/duties on the ship. I believe he was an aimer/spotter. I am currently typing up his account if anyone is interested in reading it.

I am in possesion of a photo album. This album contains pictures of the south china fleet circa 1932. There are some facinatinf photos of ships crew, pictures of them boxing aboard ship even the ships cat (named Flyblead) There are photos of hiroshimo and nagasaki before the atom bomb. It belonged to my husbands mother's first husband. We do not know anything more about the album but if anyone is interested particularly if you had a relative serving on one of the ships we would dearly love to let them have it. The inside cover of the album lists the ships on a map of the tour of the china seas. Let me know if you are interested

I am presently researching the history of HMS Martin, an M-class destroyer(G44) commanded by Cdr CRP Thomson DSO RN which was sunk by the German U-boat U431 on 10th Nov 1942 in the Western Mediterranean, 85 miles NE of Algiers during Operation Torch. There were reported to be 161 casualties and 63 survivors. Prior to operating in the Meditarannean HMS Martin served in the Arctic Convoys.

I am interested in any information on the operational service of this ship particularly during the Arctic Covoys PQ15 - PQ18

Any information would be very much appreciated.
