I know that he had been in several naval bases on the East coast and in Grennock,Scotland. One of the ships that he served on was LCI L 299 on Dday. Would be great to know if anyone has any pictures or stories involving him to pass on to my children. | |

| From an ex parachute regiment soldier, cas evac'd as a battle casualty on HMS Hydra during the Falklands war. Here is his new book for anyone who loves a really good read. Published on the 31st July 09 by Janus publishing company called 'The Way to Valhalla' by Brendan Martin [not his real name] Served in 2 Para for 22 years from '71-'93. If you knew him, and you read this book, you should be able to work out who he is. If you like McNab and Ryan, you will love this. A brilliant read - outstanding! The book received the following reviews: 'I've known the author for twenty-five years and the depth of his character, coolness and personality belies a surgical soldier of note: read this book or forever wonder!' John Geddes, author of Highway to Hell.
Also, 'A book both civilians and soldiers will enjoy. It's very authentic and the NI paragraphs will send a shiver down your spine. The author was an outstanding soldier and has written a genuine read.' Mike Curtis, author of Close Quarter Battle.
The Way to Valhalla by Brendan Martin. ISBN 978-1-85756-720-5. Also available on Amazon and all major book shops across the country. Retails at £9.95
