I am trying to contact anyone who went to the "Homes for Little Boys" in Hextable, Swanley, Kent, in order to write its history. This was a Naval Orphanage between 1883 and the 1950s. Many boys came from Portsmouth/Southampton; at 14 many returned to associated schools there as well as Greenwich, Holbrook, Deal etc. Many served in the wars.
The present School is called "Furness" in Hextable. Memoirs are being gathered from former members and a reunion is planned for 2007. Please contact me if you have any information.

I am trying to locate Robert ( George) and Dianne Thwaites, all I know is they use to live in the Billingham area. They had 2 children Mark and Victoria, George was on HMS Galatea with me in the 70's the last time I saw george was about 5/6 years ago when he was working up here at Yarrows on the Clyde building some foreign boats Indian I Think they were patrol boats.

If anyone can help me with my quest I would be extatic.

Cheers in anticipation,

I'm searching for survivors of HMS's Stronghold and Exeter. I am writing a movie surrounding the survivors of these ships that involves their capture and internment. My father was an AB on Stronghold when she was sunk in 1942. I believe there is anuntold tribute to be told and I am keen on doing it. Please contact me with anything you may have. My thanks for your service and anything you can push my way.

Sincerely, Michael Power

Hi. I am not ex Navy personally but I am seeking help with something. We have recently formed Orkney Defence Interest Network (ODIN) to preserve the historic and cultural remains around Scapa Flow. We are seeking memories from men and women who served here. In particular The Great Orkney Song Share project would like to here, even fragments, of any songs you may remember (Repeatable ones!) I would love to hear from anyone with memories of Scapa Flow.
Thanks for reading.

In my original post I used the name Sewell. It should have read Saywell. The corrected version therefore should read:
I am trying to locate Peter Saywell who was based at HMS Raleigh, or Fishguard, in 1958/61. He knew a local girl, Elizabeth "Liz" Maidment, the daughter of the local police officer; whom I think he may have married. Additionally, in the 60's, Peter, Liz, and/or Liz's sister may have been based at Culdrose (HMS Seahawk)in Cornwall. It would be fantastic if anyone knows their whereabouts

As the current Secretary of Falmouth Branch, I am trying to chart the history of the Branch, before it is too late! The earliest I can find is an article in the RNA Handbook for 1983/4, which relates to the "resurrection of the Branch in 1982 after a break of 30 years"
Can anyone throw any light on the early years of the re-formed Branch, or - better still - any information on the original Branch, which must have de-commissioned in the 1950's. Was the Branch previously known as RBN Old Comrades' Association i wonder?

I have posted this once before, but will try one more time.
I have an old Royal Naval Association diary dated 1954 which belonged to a J H Palmer of Caterham in Surrey. Unfortunately, the ship's name is not legible, but could be HMS Centaur? There are references to Peter Mears,RMA Sandhurst and Andy McDonald, HMS Nuthatch.
It would be nice to be able to return it to a family member. If anyone has any knowledge of J H Palmer please contact me.

Hi, I am trying to find anyone who may have knew my grandfather. His name is RAYMOND CHATWIN. He served the navy during WW2 as an AZDIC operator on HMS QUILLIAM, HMS QUEENSBOROUGH, and HMS QUAIL which unfortunately hit a sea mine in Nov 1942 and eventually caused it to capsize whilst on tow back in May 1943. I would dearly love to hear from anyone or their relatives who may have knew him during his war days or have served with him. Or just give their own accounts of life on Quilliam , Queensborough, or Quail. Please contact me at lukefoulstone@hotmail.com
Thank you
