Hi, I am in Gillingham, Kent and involved in a project which will protect the last peace of land once Occupied by the Royal Navy, The Nore Command headquaters which later became shore base reserves HMS wildfire.
Yesterday on a walk around the soon to be Admirals Gardens Park, formerly Nore command I took a photograph of a cement plack, with enscriptions of CPO and P.O Names.
If anyone contacts via Mail I will be happy to forward the photograph onwards.
Being a Medway Towns Lad, most of my family were in the Royal Navy and I retain the pride still felt around these parts though Chatham Dockyard is long gone.

My grandfather Harold Frederick Butcher joined the navy in 1920, he served on HMS Impregnable, Royal Oak and Pembroke to name a few. In 1929 with HMS Pembroke, he won two medals at the Royal Tournament Field Gun Display crew fastest run and best aggregate score. My dad has the medals. Grandad then transfered to submarines, he lost his life on the M2 when she went down with all hands off of White Bay Portland Dorset on 26th January 1932. My dad was 5 and his sister only 2.

My dad, William Harper served with the Navy on the Russian Convoys in WWII. Although he is very frail now, he is determined to attend the Rememberance Service in November and wants to wear the 'white beret' of the North Atlantic Veterans. Does any one know where I can get this for him?

I visited the RNA guestbook expecting to read numerous messages regarding the RNA Cenotaph Ceremony and March past that took place on 13th September - I was disappointed to find that there were none. May I, therefore, be the first to congratulate those responsible for the splendid seamless organisation that went into making the event so pleasureable and memorable. The HMS St Vincent mob that I travelled with to London from Pompey really enjoyed the day, including the facilities laid on for us in the Civil Service Club. Thank you RNA management for all your efforts and those of you who were not there should note your diaries for 2011, it is a good day out.

Cairo, Indomitable and Ariadne. I am sure there are many more, but these are the ones i can remember. I would love to hear from anyone that has any stories or info.

Hoping to get in contact with anyone who served with my grandfather Thomas Neal Quinn from Sarnia, Ontario who served in the RCNR during WW2. I know that he had been in several naval bases on the East coast and in Grennock,Scotland. One of the ships that he served on was LCI L 299 on Dday. Would be great to know if anyone has any pictures or stories involving him to pass on to my children.
